Content

In practical assignment 2, students analyse a management issue relating to operations management at a company of their choice. They identify and analyse obstacles, place them within a framework, create a design and translate it into an implementation plan. The practical assignment ties in with the assignment for Operations Management. For the Operations Management assignment, a business process is analysed and improved. In this practical assignment, a change management diagnosis is made and an implementation plan is developed for this redesign. Key aspects of the assignment include the implementation plan phases, decision-making process and communication. Students also describe the role of a consultant and are able to draw up various interventions aimed at achieving support, eliminating barriers and creating commitment.

In addition, students work on an issue with an international dimension for the client. This issue could involve expanding production in another country, entering a new market, collaborating with a partner abroad or embarking on some other venture. The research pair explore the options, identify the international context and come up with a concrete, well-substantiated recommendation.

Both the implementation plan and the recommendation are presented to the client and assessed by stakeholders.
