Strategic Focus Areas: Entrepreneurship, Global Mindset and Sustainability

The Innovation Assignment (INA) is a course in which students work in interdisciplinary teams on real-life complex challenges sourced from professional practice or research partners. Students apply and extend their research knowledge and skills acquired in Research in Business, integrating theory and practice to develop an evidence-based, innovative solution.

The course begins with a networking event where students engage with external stakeholders to acquire a project assignment. They then follow an applied innovation and research process structured around systems thinking, problem analysis, ideation, design thinking, stakeholder analysis, value creation, validation, and impact definition.

Students develop integrated solutions by combining disciplinary perspectives and collaborating across backgrounds, with emphasis on synthesising knowledge, analysing complexity, and creating coherent and actionable solutions with societal and/or organisational value.

The course culminates in a portfolio of assessed work, including a capstone research-based academic poster, pitch, and defense, in which students present and justify their research, approach, solution design, and impact.

This course contributes to SDGs 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, and 17.
