Learning outcomes
In the graduation project, you will prove that you are competent at a B.Sc. level and that you are ready to enter the field as a starting professional. Under the Teaching and Examination Regulation (TER) you can find information on the competency levels, skills and attitudes (TER: Behaviour characteristics).
Content
During the graduation project, the student demonstrates that he/she has acquired all competencies and skills characteristic of a mechanical engineer.
The student:
The student:
- ndependently analyzes a complex and unstructured technical problem within a multidisciplinary context and understands the current situation and the client’s interests, based on which he/she formulates the objectives and requirements of the problem;
- independently designs a solution to the problem based on the requirements, taking into account societal interests as well as the feasibility and testability of the solution by applying appropriate design methods;
- independently realizes and implements a complex product or process, which he/she designs to demonstrate that the correct materials and methods have been used and to verify that the product/process meets the requirements. The student correctly documents the analysis, design, and realization;
- demonstrates an understanding of the maintenance aspects of the product/process by developing implementation and maintenance plans and monitoring the performance of the product/process;
- plans the project based on the available resources, adjusts it where necessary, and communicates appropriately with stakeholders;
- formulates appropriate recommendations based on research and an up-to-date overview of the professional field and presents these recommendations clearly to those involved. He/she provides advice that aligns with the stated question;
- formulates the research question based on the objectives and requirements of the project, derived from the problem analysis. In this analysis, the student investigates the context and possible solutions using literature or other information sources and presents the results and conclusions of this research in a structured manner, while remaining critical of the research method and results;
- behaves professionally in a complex environment by reflecting on his/her own behavior, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and communicating effectively in English or Dutch. In doing so, the student fully documents his/her research and all phases/stages of the project and highlights the key aspects and results in a presentation.
