Main learning outcome
Performs an ethical analysis on the basis of ethical theories, CSR, sustainability and corporate governance, in order to make a well-informed judgement on an organisation’s policy, and uses this judgement to make a recommendation on possible measures and the associated consequences.

The student:
- demonstrates an understanding of the basic ethical theories and insights that are necessary in order to approach issues of business ethics in an objective way
- designs a basic code of conduct/ethical guidelines for socially responsible, sustainable operations and identifies ethical themes
- understands the different methods that are used to tackle ethical dilemmas within a business
- obtains insights into business ethics and the development of a socially responsible strategy
- translates the vision for CSR into policy, based on a sustainable approach to business
Inhoud
During the Ethics & CSR lectures, we pay attention, among other things, to developing knowledge of basic moral theories and insights that are needed to look at ethical issues in organizations in an objective way. For this we first look at our own norms and values that influence the personal perspective of (ultimately) business ethical themes.
We also look at codes of conduct, a CSR vision for an organization and whether business-related actions fit within sustainable business operations.
These different insights into (business) ethics are used as the basis for working out a moral dilemma from practice according to a phase method, in order to arrive at a morally responsible action (in an organization).
