Profile of the programme

During the master's program, you actively work on your professional and personal development. You will learn how you, as a sports professional, can contribute to the further professionalization of sports and excercise education and how you can promote an active and healthy lifestyle among young people. Conducting research and making connections witho other professionals enriches your own professional practice.

This educational master's program has been developed based on a widely identified need from society and the educational field on the one hand and renewed insights from science on the oter. The core of the course is aimed at innovating your own professional practice as a sports professional. The most important competencies are focused on collaboration and connection, research and innovation and positioning and justifying exercise and sports in and around the school al master's level.

Do you want to grow into a connecting and innovative professional? Our master's degree helps you develop into a master's trained sports professional who is equipped to provide a good answer to the complex issues in professional practice that require a multidisciplinary approach. You develop skills to promote exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle for young people, both inside and outside school. This is done on the basis of practice-oriented research, professionalizing the profession and making connections with other professionals around students.

As graduates of the master's degree, you are able to translate trends and developments into innovative curricula and programs with a critical analytical view. In this way you can influence the movement behavior of students in a qualitative and quantitative sense.

The Master's degree in Sports & Exercise Education is aimed at graduated bachelor's students who work in the field of sports and exercise. This involves learning to innovate sports programs from a (ped)agogical perspective.

Learning outcomes

Analysis
1. The student identifies, analyzes and explores a practical problem in his own professional practice based on practical insights, conceptual considerations and scientific sources in order to arrive at question articulation.
2. The student explores and defines criteria and preconditions to delineate the space for the design of appropriate and innovative practical solutions.

Design:
3. The student develops innovations to innovate professional practice using an appropriate research method based on the practical situation, relevant policy frameworks, conceptual considerations and scientific sources.

Implementation
4. The student justifies the choices made and strategy(s) used, based on practical relevance, conceptual considerations and scientific sources, in a way that is easy to follow and coherent.
5. The student is enterprising, sensitive and adaptive in positioning the desired change in the world of sport and physical education and thus mobilizing people and resources to achieve effective and efficient cooperation in the implementation process.

Evaluation
6. The student collects, processes and interprets the information obtained to arrive at success and failure factors of the implemented innovation.

Dissemination (and follow-up):
7. The student independently translates acquired insights, knowledge and experiences into solutions in new, multidisciplinary or broader contexts within the international field of sports and exercise professionals.
8. The student communicates conclusions, knowledge, motives and considerations regarding his innovation in an effective and appropriate manner to relevant stakeholders.
9. The student directs his professional development and reflects critically and self-consciously on his attitude, behavior and choices made and adapts them in changing situations.
