Inhoud

The Body of Knowledge (BOK) of sport and exercise psychology will cover central theories and concepts related to performance and well-being, such as motivation, mindset, and stress. In addition, a range of mental skills will be discussed, such as coping with adversity, self-regulation of learning, and stress management. Students will be expected to apply their knowledge and skills in the context of sport/exercise and entrepreneurship to enhance their understanding of how psychological processes can play a role in these contexts. Specific attention will be given to how the environment in which we as human beings move or work can influence our behavior. A wellknown concept in this regard is nudging.
This BOK also focuses on students' personal and professional development to their self-reflection and self-awareness.

The complete body of knowledge is required to fulfil the challenges and assignments during the Great Run (GR) international game. The game participants are students from the Dutch and English stream of Sport Studies as well as students from partner universities in Europe. The GR is a half marathon with its origin in Newcastle, England. The international game GR is a team-based simulation in order to develop skills in the application of current sport, health and management theories to a practical situation in the context of a real-life event.
Aims of the Event:

* critically appraise event management issues including volunteering, promotion, marketing, branding and organising
* analyse and evaluate the importance and power of a sport event and event management

Objectives of the event: at the end of the game successful students will be able to recognise and respond to the demands of a (simulated) management experience and to:
* develop an understanding of diversity management and cultural differences within sport event management
* develop personal competencies associated with working in a team, making decisions, taking responsibilities and applying sound principles to the effective execution of a sports event.
