Inhoud

This module Research Through Design provides the student with “inside knowledge” of project processes and how these help or hinder the aim to enable local stakeholders to improve their own living and working environment. The module provides the student the opportunity to record the process of project development, to improve the process and learn systematically what, why, how, where, when and who has contributed anything to the end goals.

The module Research Through Design is essential in the formation of professionals to provide them with the skills, knowledge and approaches needed to work within this arena of spatial transformation. It will introduce them to working methods that enable a broad spectrum of stakeholders in their understanding and communication of the dynamic issues and opportunities inherent to their locality.

This module will specifically focus upon the skills required to systematically and creatively analyse contextual issues. It will encourage the aspiring professional to develop reflective practices that evaluate and enable the iterative improvement of their own work and working practices.

The development of the student will be assessed by evaluating their ability to work creatively and in a visually communicative manner through processes of systematic analysis; and by evaluating the honesty, clarity and insights into their own assessment of their work (specifically their prototypes).
